dovecot

Dovecot is a high-performance IMAP and POP3 server with strong security focus. This build provides a single unified package built from upstream source with mbox, maildir, and sdbox support.

Why this build?

Ubuntu 24.04 ships Dovecot 2.3.21 split across multiple packages (dovecot-core, dovecot-imapd, dovecot-pop3d, etc.). This build provides:

Upstream 2.3.21.1 — latest 2.3.x point release with additional bug fixes over the distro’s 2.3.21
Single package — all protocols (IMAP, POP3, LMTP) and storage drivers (mbox, maildir, sdbox) in one package, no need to install separate sub-packages
Full feature set — built with SSL, PAM, SQLite, ICU text search, lz4/zstd compression, and libsodium crypto
No AppArmor dependency — simpler deployment on systems without AppArmor profiles
